Who We Are

Learn Tourism is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing travel, tourism, and hospitality through education, workforce development, and destination stewardship. We partner with destination marketing organizations, convention and visitors bureaus, and tourism offices to build learning experiences for the people who shape a visitor's day.

That includes frontline hospitality staff, volunteers, residents, small business owners, and community leaders. In our view, every destination is in the business of learning, and everyone who greets a visitor is part of the welcome.

Today, more than 50,000 learners have built their skills with Learn Tourism, across 60+ destination partners. Cincinnati's program is one of them, designed around this region's people, places, and stories.

We don't create courses. We create learning experiences.

Our approach: T.E.A.®

Good ambassador training changes how people act, not just what they can recall. Every Learn Tourism program is built on our T.E.A.® learning philosophy:

  • Transformative. We design backward from the behavior we want to see: a resident who confidently recommends a neighborhood restaurant, or a hotel clerk who turns a lost visitor into a delighted one.
  • Engaging. Stories, local voices, scenarios, and reflection replace slide decks and memorization. People remember what they feel and practice.
  • Accessible. Self-paced, mobile-friendly learning that fits a shift break, a volunteer's evening, or a new hire's first week.

We pair that philosophy with local destination knowledge, so learners leave with both the hospitality skills and the insider stories that make a place memorable. Destinations own their content, can update it on their own timeline, and get detailed analytics and learner feedback to see what's working.

Why destinations invest in tourism ambassadors

A visitor's impression of a city rarely comes from a billboard. It comes from the server who suggests a hidden gem, the rideshare driver who knows the history of a bridge, and the volunteer who points the way with a smile. Tourism ambassador training prepares those people on purpose.

We see strong ambassador programs deliver in four areas:

  1. Visitor experience. Better recommendations and warmer welcomes lead to longer stays and more return visits.
  2. Workforce development. Hospitality workers build confidence, career skills, and pride in where they work.
  3. Community engagement. Residents connect with tourism as something that benefits their neighborhoods, not just something that happens to them.
  4. Destination stewardship. Ambassadors who understand their place help protect it, sharing its culture, history, and natural spaces responsibly.

The best programs are built for the long run. They're easy to keep fresh, simple to manage, and measured by real outcomes rather than attendance alone. That's the standard we hold for every partner, from Cincinnati to the 60+ destinations we work alongside.
